ACCA recently attended the yearly Industry Partners Forum (IPF) in south Florida. The IPF is the one time each year that the volunteer leaders from ACCA, AHRI (manufacturer association), and HARDI (distributor association) gather for intimate discussions about current events and the future of the HVACR industry. This year, the IPF was hosted by HARDI at The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida.

(Read more about the history of the IPF and the 2019 discussions in my blog, 2019 Industry Partners Forum Focuses on Consensus.)

The Breakers is an historic sight and it was a privilege to have a behind the scenes tour of the impressive facility from a local ACCA member – Chris Ryan of Air-Ref Co., Inc. Chris is based in nearby Delray Beach and was proud to show ACCA staff, Executive Committee, and Past Chairs his work at The Breakers.

Air-Ref has about 85 employees and operates a mix of residential, commercial, and refrigeration. They are also launching a new in-house training center which was inspired by an ACCA member webinar! Chris is also a member of the Nothing But Net ACCA MIX Group with former ACCA Chairman Steve Lauten.

Chris’s tour began with one of Air-Ref’s most recent accomplishments at The Breakers, the Wine Wall. The impressive wine cooler was only matched by the selection of wine offered, which was off the menu for ACCA. The Wine Wall that Air-Ref built is a 3,000-bottle showcase made of stainless steel and clear glass. Behind the Wine Wall is a private dining room for up to 20 guests who are surrounded by wines kept perfectly chilled by Air-Ref!

Chris, and the onsite facility manager Ron, then showed the group the chiller room which houses 3 Trane Chillers. They told us that much of the time they are usually operating on one and a half chillers. From there, ACCA headed to the cooling towers which were about 100 yards from the building.

We also got to see the labyrinth under the hotel and golf course where the staff move food, drinks, linens, and materials out of site from the guests. It seemed like a well-choreographed

It was great to see one of ACCA’s members operating in one of the nation’s most historic resorts. Chris and his entire team take great pride in their work and it’s clear from how immaculate they keep the facilities and how comfortable they keep the guests!

A special thank you to Chris for spending time with us and providing this behind the scenes look at The Breakers.
