ACCA Announces Departure of Glenn Hourahan, P.E.

April 15, 2019

The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) announces that Glenn Hourahan, P.E., senior vice president of technical, accreditation, and educational policy development, departed ACCA on April 15, 2019.

For 17 years, Glenn Hourahan has led ACCA’s technical programs that resulted in the development of multiple heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) standards and manuals; many are recognized by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as American National Standards. He has served the contracting industry by representing contractors and advancing their interests in code bodies, including the International Codes Council and the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials.

Mr. Hourahan also enhanced ACCA’s committee structure that included more than 250 volunteers and led to the creation of ACCA’s Quality initiatives, including the Quality Installation program, ACCA’s Quality Maintenance standards, and ACCA’s online training platform, Qtech®. Mr. Hourahan’s work at ACCA resulted in numerous industry recognitions, including the ARI Schulze Award for Distinguished Service (2003); ASHRAE Exceptional Service Award (2006), and advancement to ASHRAE Fellow (2010).

Barton James, ACCA president and CEO, reflected on Glenn’s history with ACCA, by stating, “I am excited for Glenn as he undertakes new opportunities beyond ACCA; but, we will undoubtedly miss him. Glenn’s guidance, wealth of knowledge, and technical expertise has had a tremendous impact in advancing ACCA’s mission of supporting HVACR contractors. Fortunately, for ACCA, Glenn was an incredibly effective manager and created a revered technical department, enabling a smooth transition as ACCA continues to lead the industry.”
