Paul Stalknecht, ACCA President and CEO, Statement on Retirement of Speaker Paul D. Ryan

April 11, 2018

Paul Stalknecht, president and CEO of the Air Conditioning Contractors, released the following statement:

“ACCA commends Speaker Ryan for his service and leadership as a Member of Congress and Speaker of the House. On behalf of America’s HVAC contractors, we wish him well as he spends more time with his family.”

“Speaker Ryan’s tireless efforts to help HVAC contractors succeed was certainly realized with the with passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which was a priority for ACCA’s members, and a monumental accomplishment. Under his leadership, contractors directly benefited from the inclusion of the HEAT Act in the tax reform package, which ACCA fought for for more than a decade. HVAC contractors also supported the many other small-business friendly provisions including progress toward repeal of the death tax and rate reductions for pass-through businesses. Speaker Ryan championed many of ACCA’s legislative priorities and we are grateful for his support and taking time to learn more about the HVAC contracting industry.”

On April 11, 2018, Speaker Ryan announced that he will not seek re-election to the House of Representatives and will retire from Congress at the end of his current term.
