The Air Conditioning Contractors of America Educational Institute Standards Task Team announced that the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has recognized the updated ANSI/ACCA 9 QIvp (HVAC Quality Installation Verification Protocols) Standard.
The Standard specifies the protocols to verify that elements of the specific HVAC system installation comply with the ANSI/ACCA 5 QI - 2015 (HVAC Quality Installation Specification) Standard. The 2016 QIvp Standard reflects the changes made to the recently updated 2015 QI Standard. The QIvp Standard revision also includes substantial streamlining of the programmatic requirements; this was effected in response to industry input for the Standard to be more readily implemented by an Authority Having Jurisdiction wishing to undertake a programmatic HVAC installation verification effort.
The 2016 QIvp Standard’s evaluation protocols permit two levels of system installation verification:
- Level 1 consists of an Installation Checklist Verification.
- Level 2 consists of a Field Verification in addition to the Level 1 Installation Checklist Verification.
The Standard’s programmatic effort requirements explains the general obligations of the parties involved in such an effort; i.e., program administrator, verifier, and contractor. This portion of the standard also details minimum requirements for any program’s policies and procedures, while allowing program administrators flexibility to develop their own programmatic documents to reflect the needs of their market.
