Laura DiFilippo Honored With ACCA's Spirit of Independence Award

March 22, 2017

ACCA, the nation’s largest association of indoor environmental systems professionals, honored Laura DiFilippo of DiFilippo's Service Company in Paoli, PA, with the Spirit of Independence award at the IE3 Show at the Gaylord Opryland in Nashville, TN.

DiFilippo has been a long-time leader in the HVACR industry. She served on the ACCA Board of Directors from 2003 until 2014. The pinnacle of her time on the Board was when she served as the first, and only, female Chair in 2012.

Along with her service to the ACCA Board of DIrectors, DiFilippo has served on numerous committees and chaired the ACCA Membership Committee for several years. Her leadership of the membership committee helped ACCA develop its open membership policy, which has resulted in an increase in membership.

“Laura has always been one of the strongest advocates for contractors that our industry and association has ever had,” said Steve Lauten, ACCA Chairman of the Board. “She has tirelessly given to the industry, working to ensure that contractors have the ability to thrive in any situation that is thrown them. She is someone who has never hesitated to give a helping hand to any contractor who has ever asked, and has been a mentor to many people who have served or are currently serving on the ACCA Board. I can't think of anyone more deserving of this award."

“Laura has been a true leader not only at ACCA, but also in the industry, for many years,” said Paul T. Stalknecht, ACCA President and CEO. “She has always put our industry as one of her highest priorities. She has the amazing quality of being able to lead with strength during tough times and times of transition, which is why she is being honored with thie prestigious award.”

The Spirit of Independence Award is the highest ACCA honor in the HVAC contracting industry and is presented to an individual who has made significant and lasting contributions to the strength, success, and independence of HVACR contractors in the industry. It recognizes an HVACR industry leader who goes above and beyond his/her call of duty. Recipients display creativity, ingenuity, and perseverance in their pursuit of a better industry.
