ACCA Members Visit Hudson Technologies Refrigerant Reclaiming Facility & Learn How to Implement Reclamation Practices at their Companies

ACCA Commits to Working With the Entire Industry to Increase Reclamation Efforts

Alexandria, VA (November 13, 2023) - ACCA contractor members, industry leaders, and ACCA staff toured Hudson Technologies' reclamation facility in Champaign, IL, on October 19, 2023, following ACCA's Next Level. The tour gave the attendees a first-hand look at how Hudson Technologies is leading the way in refrigerant reclamation, which provides contractors with a long-term, viable solution to meet their customers' heating and cooling needs in the face of rapid refrigerant phase-outs and bans.

"The visit to Hudson Technologies' reclamation facility couldn't have happened at a more opportune time for contractors given that the EPA recently released a final rule that bans high GWP HFC refrigerants in various OEM equipment starting in 2025," said Barton James, ACCA president & CEO. "This tour let contractors see real options available to serve their customers when the HFC availability declines."

"We value our partnership with ACCA and appreciate the opportunity to showcase our state-of-the-art reclamation facility to ACCA contractor members and the ACCA team," said Brian Coleman, president & CEO of Hudson Technologies. "Hudson is committed to ensuring contractors receive the full economic benefit of their efforts to recover refrigerant, and our partnership with ACCA allows us the opportunity to educate and work with some of the premiere contractors in the nation.”

"We are grateful to have a corporate partner like Hudson Technologies that opened its doors to share their solutions with leaders in the industry," added James. "It was eye-opening when they told us that only 2 percent of HFC refrigerants are currently being recovered. This is totally unacceptable, especially given the rapid pace of refrigerant phaseout through the AIM Act that is coming from the EPA. ACCA and our members need to do more to increase reclamation efforts. ACCA is committed to educating our members about refrigerant reclamation and its benefits to them and their consumers and helping raise the 2 percent number quickly."
